How to get on the London Eye and avoid the queues, the best views of London
London’s newest attraction is the Ferris wheel known as The London Eye. The Ferris wheel was inaugurated in 1999 with the idea of celebrating the millennium, which is why it is also known as the Millennium Wheel, although it was not opened to the public until March 2000.
It is located in a privileged place on the banks of the Thames next to the London Aquarium and is one of the most emblematic sights of the city.
The views you have from above are unforgettable and you can see almost all the important places in London.
What is The London Eye Ferris wheel like?
With a maximum height of 135 meters with what was the largest Ferris wheel in the world until 2006, the London Eye is made up of 32 cabins with capacity for around 25 people.
The trip lasts about 30 minutes and offers us spectacular panoramic views of the city and some of its most famous monuments.
It is very curious that the Ferris wheel is constantly turning and not for new travelers to get on.
On the march, people get off, the security guards enter with metal detectors, they do an inspection and the new ones enter. All without stopping.
How to enjoy the London Eye
Since its construction, the London Eye has earned a place among the most photographed places in London for its spectacular nature, especially at night thanks to its colored lighting.
From the top you have spectacular views of Parliament and Big Ben.
It is also possible to see Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral and even Tower Bridge. In fact, on clear days, you can see 40 km around.
