What to see in Lastres in one day
The Port of Lastres and Escanu Beach
The best place to start visiting everything there is to see in Lastres is the Port, where there is a car park and you can leave your car.
It is an old whaling port with a long jetty where boats dock every day bringing fantastic fish and seafood that can be enjoyed in the area’s restaurants. Buyers from further afield also come to his market.
In the Port of Lastres you can find a large anchor and 2 cannons that belonged to El Castillo, an old fortress that defended Lastres from the attack of the English pirates who besieged the area. Next to Puerto de Lastres is Playa del Escanu, a small beach with crystal clear waters and fine sand from where you can have beautiful views of the houses in the town.
Old Town of Lastres
After visiting the port, it’s time to enter the Old Town and enjoy its steep streets and all the historic buildings to see in Lastres in one day.
The first you will come across will be the Capilla del Buen Suceso, which you will reach through some steep stairs that start at the end of Playa del Escanu. It is a 16th century temple, located in a network of narrow alleys and whose baroque altarpiece is one of the best things to visit in Lastres.
From there we can continue walking through the streets of Lastres until we reach the Torre del Reloj, from the 15th century, a tower 12 meters high in which its clock stands out, added in the 18th century. Do not miss the incredible stately homes that surround it either.
The next point of our one-day walk through Lastres is Calle Real, one of the most beautiful streets in the town thanks to its maritime houses with colored facades and wooden balconies. In it is the Casa de los Robledo, an 18th-century Baroque mansion that stands out from its neighboring houses.
A few meters away is the House of Doctor Mateo, which you will like to see if you were a follower of the famous television series.
The last destination of our walk through Lastres is the Mirador de San Roque, although before that we will reach the Church of Nuestra Señora de Sábada, built in the Baroque and Renaissance style in the 18th century and of which we must highlight its main altarpiece and the tower of the Bell tower.
From the Mirador de San Roque you have some of the best views of the town. Without a doubt, one of the best things to visit in Lastres. You can see their houses on the hillside and great views of the Cantabrian Sea and even the Picos de Europa.
The Jurassic Museum of Asturias
