First day in Barcelona
On the first of our two days to see Barcelona we are going to take a tour that will take us through the modernist part of the city and the most emblematic buildings of Antonio Gaudí.
The tour can start at the Sagrada Familia, the most famous building in the city, which is still being built but you can’t miss it as it is one of the best things to see in Barcelona in two days.
The Sagrada Familia is a spectacular temple of which we must highlight the Crypt, the only place that was built with Gaudí in life or the Nativity Facade. It is also mandatory to climb its towers to have great views of Barcelona.
Continuing along Avenida Diagonal we arrive at Paseo de Gracia where the best modernist buildings in Barcelona are located. One of them is Casa Milá, also known as La Pedrera and which is one of Gaudí’s masterpieces. Casa Batlló, considered by many to be the most beautiful, is a little further south and is a must-see.
Before arriving at the Plaza de Catalunya we must not forget the Casa Amatller and the Casa Lleó Morera, in which the Manzana de la Discordia is known, due to the controversy created after its construction for being so different from the surroundings.
The next destination to complete the fabulous modernist tour of Barcelona is Park Güell, where we can go for a pleasant walk through the beautiful streets of Barcelona or by public transport. Park Güell is a huge park, one of the best things to see in Barcelona, of 17 hectares and where you should not miss the entrance pavilions and the staircase that takes you to the Central Square and the Hypostyle Hall.
What to visit in Barcelona on the second day
The previous day was dedicated to the modernist city. We are going to dedicate this second day to the most historic Barcelona, touring the neighborhoods of the city center.
The beginning of our walk must be the Gothic Quarter in one of the best walks to do in Barcelona in two days. The best thing is to get lost in its alleys and discover every corner that will open up in your path.
From its interior we must not miss the Plaza del Rey, where you will think you have returned to the Middle Ages, or the nearby Cathedral of Santa Eulalia, impressive both inside and out and a must-see.
Another essential place is the Basilica of Santa María del Mar, one of the most famous in the city, especially for the novel and series La Catedral del Mar, or the Plaza de San’t Jaume where the most important buildings of the city are located. Catalan and Barcelona politics.
After losing yourself in its streets and exploring them, it’s time to go to Las Ramblas, the liveliest, busiest and most famous area of Barcelona, where we can take the opportunity to enjoy one of its restaurants or shops.
On the Ramblas is the Teatro del Liceo or the Güell Palace, with which we would complete the visit to the great modernist legacy of the city. Don’t miss the Boquería Market either, before reaching the end of the street where the Port of Barcelona is, the Aquarium or the famous Statue of Columbus.
If you still have time, we recommend you go, on foot or by public transport, to Plaza de España and enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of Barcelona, at the foot of Montjuic, with the imposing building of the National Museum of Art of Catalonia.
