What to see in Aranjuez in 1 day
The Royal Palace of Aranjuez
The starting point of our one-day visit to Aranjuez will be its great jewel, the Royal Palace. It will also be the first monument you come across if you go to this city by Cercanías train from Madrid.
The first thing that stands out about this extraordinary palace is its red and white façade, which you have to admire from all sides before entering it and enjoying its rooms such as the Queen’s Room, the Music Antechamber or the Queen’s Chamber..
Other rooms also stand out, such as the Throne Room or the Gala Dining Room, as well as the Main Staircase. In all places we can enjoy its furniture and paintings. The Chapel is also not to be missed.
You can find here more information about the Royal Palace of Aranjuez and how to visit it.
The gardens of Aranjuez
To complete the visit to the Royal Palace, when you leave you must first visit the two gardens that surround it. The largest, the Garden of the Island and its fountains, and the Garden of the Parterre, located between the Palace and the Tagus River. It is highly recommended to enjoy each of its sources and its walks.
Nearby is the Garden of Isabel II, built in the 19th century and whose main point of interest is the statue of Isabel II in the center.
The spectacular Jardín del Príncipe, the largest, is our next destination. There, the best thing is to get lost and enjoy its fountains, the Chinescos Pond and all the wonders that are hidden inside this immense 150-hectare park, which logically you will not be able to visit in its entirety during your visit to Aranjuez de one day.
The Royal Barge Museum is another of the places to visit inside.
The Farmer’s House
After visiting the most spectacular places in the Jardín del Príncipe, we recommend you walk to the Casa del Labrador, which is actually located inside said garden.
La Casa del Labrador is a beautiful mansion built by order of Carlos IV in an old farmhouse and that is almost a royal palace in miniature that is worth a visit. This neoclassical mansion built at the end of the 18th century is one of the best things to see in Aranjuez in one day.
Inside the Casa del Labrador we must highlight the Ballroom, the Billiards Room or the Queen María Luisa Room, without forgetting the Main Staircase and the rest of the rooms of the mansion.
Other places to visit in Aranjuez in one day
After visiting the Casa del Labrador we can retrace our steps to discover the old town of Aranjuez. The first stop should be the Church of Alpajes, located at the end of Calle del Príncipe, which takes you to the Royal Palace.
From there, we can walk to the Jadín de Isabel II, visited before, and head south passing by the Casa de los Infantes, the Teatro Real Carlos III and the Church of San Antonio de Padua, another of the most important monuments to visit. in Aranjuez.
The Church of San Antonio de Padua is of baroque style and is the main point of interest of the immense square that appears in front of it, the Plaza de la Mariblanca, where there is a statue dedicated to it and the Casa de Oficios y Knights, which housed the court entourage and their ministries.
The visit to Aranjuez can end in the Plaza de Parejas, on the other side of the Casa de Oficios y Caballeros and from where you have beautiful views of the Royal Palace of Aranjuez.
