What to see and what to do in the fishing village of Suances

Very close to the main points of interest to visit in Cantabria and bathed by the sea we find the town of Suances, located on the central coast of the community and capital of a municipality through which the Besaya and Saja rivers flow, already united before its mouth.
There is much to see in Suances thanks to its beaches, its tourist attraction and its fishing activity, being divided into two different parts, the beach and the town.
Here we tell you what is the best thing to visit in Suances.
A walk to discover the best places to see in Suances
1. What to see in Suances Pueblo
The upper part of the town is popularly known as Suances Pueblo, formed mainly by the Barrio de la Cuba with its typical seafaring houses and from where you have great views of the Ría de San Martín.
Walking through the streets of La Cuba we can admire the Plaza de Viares, where the Suances Town Hall is located, the Casa de los Polanco, and the main shops and commercial areas and also interesting bars and restaurants where you can recharge your batteries.
Strolling through its streets we find the Church of Nuestra Señora de las Lindes, built in the 17th century and a sample of the curious religious architecture of the area and which was built on the ruins of another medieval church that was in this place.
2. The Beach of the Concha de Suances
The lowest part of the town, the so-called Suances Beach, is perhaps the most touristic and for many the best known, since the hotel activity and beach tourism of Suances are concentrated here.
The main beach that we find in this area is Playa de la Concha, less famous than San Sebastián but also very beautiful.
It is a 760 meter long beach separated by a breakwater from the mouth of the Ría de San Martín.
3. The Beach of the Locos and the Lighthouse
On the way to the small fishing port are Playa de la Ribera and Playa de la Riberuca, very small beaches but that have nothing to envy to other sandbanks of Suances
Like the Playa de los Locos, located at the other end of the town and separated from La Concha by the Punta del Felizo, where the Old Torco Defenses are located, from the 17th century and which once served to defend the city..
The Suances Lighthouse is another point of interest in this area, as is the Mirador del Torco, from where you have beautiful views of the beaches or the Cerruti Castle, which houses a hotel.
