Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona
The Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, also known by its acronym MACBA like many others in the city, is another of the main museums to visit in Barcelona.
If you are a fan of modern art, this is your museum since you can find some 5,000 works made from the mid-20th century to the present.
The main building in which it is located was built in 1995 and stands out for its avant-garde design and the predominance of white accentuated by great light. Opposite is the Convent of the Angels, which is also part of the museum.
Joan Miró Foundation Museum
Joan Miró was another of the great Catalan artists of the 20th century. And dedicated to his work we find the Fundació Joan Miró, opened in 1975 and where we can find not only works by the great artist but also by others who are highly recognized in contemporary art.
In the Fundació Joan Miró Museum there are more than 14,000 works by artists such as Pierre Matisse or Manuel de Muga. among them we can find paintings, sculptures, engravings and textiles, among others.
The building where the museum is located is also very interesting. The color white also predominates in it and it is gradually becoming one of the benchmarks of art in Barcelona.
Antoni Tapies Foundation Museum
Dedicated to another of the great Catalan artists, the Antoni Tapies Foundation was created in 1984 by the artist himself for the promotion and study of contemporary art.
In the museum, in addition to the different works of art by geniuses such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Kandinski and even Goya or Zurbarán, we can find archaeological pieces and works of African, pre-Columbian or Asian art.
Of course we can also find some 300 works by Antoni Tapies. All this in a modernist building, the work of Lluís Domenech i Muntaner, with a spectacular iron and brick façade.
