Do rural tourism in the north of Extremadura

Rural tourism is booming due to new concepts such as glamping. If you have never heard of this concept, don’t worry, we will explain it to you.
Glamping is a term that comes from putting together the words “camping” and “glamorous” and that was coined at the end of the 19th century. In essence, glamping is like a luxury campsite, that is, doing quality rural tourism and being able to enjoy a traditional campsite in the countryside, but without giving up all the advantages that a five-star hotel can provide.
Glamping is perfect for all those who like the countryside, but do not like the inconveniences that it has. This means that if you love nature and enjoy hiking, but don’t like to sleep in a tent or are worried about getting bugs, glamping is the best solution.
Glamping is a new way to enjoy a holiday in the countryside, with all the advantages that a place in a big city can offer you. To enjoy glamping, one of the most recommended places is the North of Extremadura for everything it offers.
What can you do in the North of Extremadura?
The North of Extremadura is the perfect conjunction between nature and rural art. You can enjoy several routes with which you can enjoy, among other places, the Monfragüe National Park. In this National Park you can walk among fields of eucalyptus trees and contemplate its landscape along its viewpoints. Different official routes, of all difficulties, whether you are an expert in hiking or want to face your first route for the first time.
In addition to the Monfragüe National Park, we also recommend that you visit Las Hurdes, where you will find some characteristic elements such as the Puente de los Machos, a bridge whose construction dates back to the 13th century.
The Sierra de Gata and the Valleys of Alagón, Ambroz and Jerte are full of villages with a most particular charm, such as Hervás, which has one of the most beautiful Jewish quarters you can visit in Spain. Imagine glamping in La Vera and enjoying its wonders.
Plasencia, a must see
If you get tired of so much nature, you can also pay a visit to Plasencia, a more than recommended stop. Considered one of the most important cities in the north of Extremadura, Plasencia is an old medieval city built at the end of the 12th century. A city full of history where you can visit its walls or its Plaza Mayor, the center of life in the city and where its town hall built in the 16th century stands out.
In Plasencia you can also visit its cathedral, something that will really surprise you due to the small size of the city. In fact, they are two different cathedrals, an old cathedral that has a transition style from Romanesque to Gothic and a new cathedral, overlapping the previous old cathedral in 1578.
Finally, you can’t leave Plasencia without visiting its aqueduct, something you probably didn’t know about and which is in very good condition.
