Niagara Falls – What to see, what to do and how to get there

Niagara Falls is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular places in the world, a magical place created by nature and one of the places to visit in North America that you cannot miss.

They are located on the Niagara River, on the border between the United States and Canada, and are made up of the “American Falls”, the “Canadian Falls” and the “Bride’s Veil Falls”, the first two being the most beautiful and the third a little smaller.

The two North American countries are linked by the beautiful Rainbow Bridge.

What to see in Canadian Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls seen from the Canadian side are the most spectacular and the ones you cannot miss.

It is shaped like a horseshoe, which is why they are also known as Horseshoe Falls, and has spectacular dimensions, 671 meters wide and 53 meters high.

The fall of the water forms a small mist that makes it difficult to see but they are still spectacular.

It is really impressive to be right next to the waterfall next to the railing and see the force that the water carries. Right there, in Queen Victoria Park, where you must go for the best views.

American Niagara Falls and Bridal Veil

The best place to see Niagara Falls from the American side is right in front of it, curiously on the Canadian side.

The shape of the American falls is straight and they are smaller than the Canadian ones. Its height is 57 meters and its length is 250 meters.

At the bottom there is a series of rocks that is where the water really falls.

Next to these Falls are the so-called «Bride’s Veil» and it is the smallest of the three, with 17 meters wide.

Attractions in Niagara Falls

Both the Canadian and American sides of Niagara Falls have a number of attractions to make your visit to Niagara Falls as fun as possible.

It is an area full of hotels, shops, restaurants and casinos that have turned it into a tourist area that at some times of the year becomes overcrowded.

One of the most famous attractions is the Maid of the Mist, a boat that takes you to the foot of both falls and from which you get spectacular views.

They will give you a raincoat but not getting wet with the sprayed water is impossible.

Another attraction is the Cave of the Winds, undoubtedly the way to get as close as possible to the falls. To do this you take an elevator and then you approach thanks to a wooden walkway. Here you will also get wet.

If you want to have the best views of the falls you can stay in one of the hotels in the Canadian area that offer rooms with views of the falls or you can climb the Skylon Tower from where you can also get to see the city of Toronto.
