There are people who prefer to sleep in one place every day and other people prefer to establish a base for their trip and make all the visits from there. In this article about what to see in Galicia in 7 days we are going to establish two bases, one in Santiago de Compostela and another in Vigo or Pontevedra.

What to see in Galicia in 7 days
First day in Galicia. Santiago de Compostela
The first base that we are going to establish to visit Galicia in a week is Santiago de Compostela, from where we will be able to visit the main places in the province of La Coruña.
This first day we are not going to move from this city since it has enough attractions for the visit to occupy you all day. And you can even get to know more places in Santiago de Compostela at night when you return from your daily routes.
In Santiago de Compostela you should visit its Old Town, where almost all its places of interest are located, such as the Plaza del Obradoiro, the Cathedral of Santiago, the Monastery of San Martiño Pinario or the alleys through which you should get lost in this city.
Second day in Galicia. Rias Altas
On this second day in Galicia we are going to travel to the Rías Altas, in its Coruña part. The part of Lugo is also spectacular, especially because of the Playa de las Catedrales, but it catches us a bit far away.
The best of the Rías Altas is the Costa Ártabra, the steepest area in northern Spain and where we find places as spectacular as Cabo Ortegal or Estaca de Bares, as well as beautiful towns such as Cedeira or San Andrés de Teixidó, a beautiful place of pilgrimage and mysteries.
The visit to the Rías Altas can be completed with a tour of Ferrol, a city closely linked to the naval industry that will surprise you. When you return to Santiago you can visit the City of Culture of Galicia, very interesting.
What to see the third day in Galicia. La Coruna
On our 7-day trip through Galicia, of course, we could not miss the largest city in the region, La Coruña, located approximately one hour from Santiago de Compostela and where you can also spend practically the entire day to discover all its attractions.
The Old Town of La Coruña is the first visit that must be made, where the Plaza de María Pita and the most historic alleys of the city are located. Nearby, the Avenida de la Marina and the Castillo de Santa Cruz.
From there, the Paseo Marítimo takes you first to the Tower of Hercules, and the Aquarium of La Coruña, and then to Riazor Beach or Monte de San Pedro. Later, if you have time, we recommend you go to Porto de Santa Cruz, in Oleiros.
What to visit on the fourth day in Galicia. The Coast of Death
Today we return to the rugged coasts of Galicia, this time to the mysterious and legendary Costa da Morte, a place that leaves no one indifferent. The Costa da Morte is very large so we must dedicate the day to one area. We can choose the area further south, which for us is the most beautiful.
The tour begins in Muros, which does not belong to the Costa da Morte proper, but it is a town that you should not miss. From there, you can go to Carnota, with its beach and the famous hórreo, the Mirador de Ézaro and of course Fisterra, where the most famous cape in the world and its lighthouse are located.
Very close by are Muxía and Camariñas, the last places that we may possibly have time to visit. If you wanted to continue further north, you have the Cementerio de los Ingleses, Laxe or Malpica, but this is to have more days in this area.
Fifth day. The Rias Baixas
On the 5th day in Galicia we will change base. We leave the province of La Coruña and we will go to Pontevedra or Vigo, where we have said that we can establish our base.

We are going to dedicate the penultimate of our 7 days in Galicia to two cities, very different but that you should know. Pontevedra is one of the most historic cities in Galicia. In Pontevedra we can admire its Cathedral, its beautiful squares, its picturesque streets and beautiful churches. A city to explore on foot that will surprise you.
Vigo is a much more modern city, but it also has an old area with many places of interest as well as a spectacular port. Nearby is the Monte de Santa Tegra, where you can enjoy an ancient Celtic settlement and the beautiful views of the mouth of the River Miño and the Galician coast.
Continuing north we will find the Monastery of Santa María de Oya and finally Baiona, another of the most beautiful towns in Galicia with the Castle of Monterreal, current Parador de Turismo, and its beautiful old town.
