How to visit the Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is the most famous skyscraper in New York and one of its symbols. It was the tallest building in the world for 40 years until the Twin Towers were built, a status it regained after the 9/11 attack.
However, currently the tallest building is the One World Trade Center, built on the site left by the Twin Towers after the attack. In any case, the Empire State Building is the most famous skyscraper to see in New York.
There are usually quite a few queues to go up to the most famous skyscraper, so be patient. Or you can also buy the ticket here before you go and save them.
Visit the Empire State Building and go up to the observation decks
It is possible to go up to two observation decks on the Empire State Building to admire New York from above.
Its viewpoints are located on the 86th floor and on the last one, on the 102nd, at 381 meters above sea level.
If we count the antenna, the building reaches up to 443 meters.
To have good views, just go up to the 86th floor where you can see the city in all directions since the terrace goes around the building completely.
To go up to the 102nd floor you have to pay a surcharge and it is also a closed viewpoint and much smaller. Therefore, we believe that going up to the 86th floor is enough.
Also, we recommend going up in the late afternoon and staying until dark to be able to see the city both during the day and at night.
In any case, you have to keep in mind that it is a very popular monument and therefore there are long queues to go up depending on the time of day, and just before sunset is one of them.
So you have to be patient and if not, you will find the shortest queues at 8 in the morning or at 3 in the afternoon.
